Built on the beautiful coastline of Paralia, Katerini in Northern Greece, Mediterranean Village is a 5-star luxury hotel complex covering a total area of 45,000m², with several autonomous and partially connected buildings. The proximity to the Mediterranean Sea posed a risk to the reinforced concrete basement structure with (one and two levels below ground and sea-level). Complete waterproofing and protection from corrosion and chloride penetration, and resistance to carbonation was needed.

Products Used:
PENETRON ADMIX was added to fresh concrete (a total of 3,500m³) at the time of batching, and successfully used to create a white tank structure – a completely waterproof structure without the addition of any topical applied products such as membranes or cementitious coatings. All construction joints were treated with PENEBAR SW swellable-type waterstops (1,600m).
