Underground Passageway / Goyang Subway

Goyang, South Korea

Description:
The trend to connect commercial developments with nearby subway stations with an underground tunnel increases attractiveness of the location – but also increases the need for a high-performance waterproofing solution. In Goyang, a new pedestrian tunnel was constructed to connect the Nuri Art Center with the Goyang subway system. The belowgrade project – with many H-beams – made the initial waterproofing membrane difficult to implement; an alternate solution was needed.

Products Used:
PENETRON ADMIX was proposed as a more efficient and cost effective waterproofing solution that requires no additional labor or special on-site preparations. By eliminating these factors, the project saved a significant amount of time and money – even shortening the overall construction schedule – with PENETRON ADMIX. The success of this project led to a further project where PENETRON ADMIX was used on an underground passageway in Seoul to link the Fashion TV building with the Dongdaemun History & Culture Park station.
