Description:
The Los Olmos Project was designed to divert water from the Huancabamba River on the humid eastern side of the Andes to the arid Los Olmos River that runs to the Pacific. The Los Olmos project will bring more than 2 billion liters of water to the Pacific coast annually and irrigate over 56,000 hectares of scrubland. The project included the construction of the 43m-high Limón dam and a 20km-long tunnel through the mountains. The reservoir holds about 44 million m3 of water. The project centerpiece is the trans-Andean tunnel, dug 2300m below the surface.
Products Used:
PENETRON products were used to waterproof and protect the concrete structure at the tunnel exit.
