PENETRON AROUNT THE WORLD
Over the past 40 years, the PENETRON system of products has helped our customers undertake and complete ambitious and challenging projects – from hospitals to parking garages, bridges to tunnels, water treatment plants to military installations… and on and on.

Description:
Cargill Agri Purina, a division of Cargill, one of the largest food processing companies in the world, constructed a new feed mill at Pyungtaek, Dangjin Harbor foreign investment zone. The Cargill feed mill serves the Korean livestock industry and is the largest feed mill worldwide with a production capacity of 870,000 metric tons per year. The project site is directly adjacent to the sea, creating a challenging environment for construction due to the area’s high underground water pressure.
Products Used:
PENETRON ADMIX was used in all the basement and belowground wall structures to protect against water penetration. The PENETRON ADMIX-treated concrete effectively protected the structure from high hydrostatic pressure.
Description:
Located in South Beach Miami, the Capri Residences include 72 luxury condominiums right on Biscayne Bay with breathtaking downtown city and water views. The development also features oversized balconies, a lap pool, waterfront gym, private roof top terraces, on-site boat slips and underground parking.
Products Used:
The location, on the edge of Biscayne Bay, posed concerns for waterproofing protection from the high hydrostatic saltwater pressure, especially for the underground parking facility below the building that extends 10 feet (3.05m) below sea level. In addition, a retaining wall was poured to support the 14-floor structure and hold back the headwaters of the Bay. A 4-foot (1.22m) thick Tremie slab was poured underwater and then subsequently pumped dry to create a “bathtub.” The slab was later topped by a 4-foot thick (1.22m) structural slab. As pouring such a large volume of concrete at one time at such thicknesses would almost guarantee the formation of cracks in the concrete, PENETRON ADMIX was used to ensure a watertight structure. PENETRON experts worked closely with the concrete supplier by reviewing mix designs and dosage rates at their plant to ensure that the more than 7,000 cubic yard (5,352m3) concrete pour went smoothly.
Description:
Extensively expanded and renovated to accommodate the World Cup, a central terminal building was created for the Cape Town International Airport to link the domestic and international terminals and provide a common check-in area.
Products Used:
The self-adhesive membrane specified for the new airport ramps posed a particular problem as they could soften and allow movement under the overlying premix finish. PENETRON was tapped as the solution because it bonds completely with the concrete – and it provided a significant cost-savings for the project.
Description:
The Cape Quarter Shopping Mall in Green Point carefully preserves the original facade fronting Somerset Road in a mix of imported Georgian style architecture combined with the original eastern influence, forged by Malaysian plaster artisans.
Products Used:
PENETRON was applied to the central courtyard and PENETRON ADMIX was used in other areas of the mall.
Description:
A watertight tunnel that carries 6 x 132kV cable circuits under Burrows Road in the inner Sydney industrial area of Alexandria, the Burrows Road Tunnel is 87m (285 ft.) long and 2.8m (9 ft.) in diameter. Dug in completely saturated (and contaminated) soil, construction of the trenchless, watertight tunnel demanded an on-site water detention and disposal system. The launch and receive pits were sunk eight meters into the contaminated soil.
Products Used:
PENETRON ADMIX was used for all concrete elements within both the launching shaft and the receiving shaft to protect against water ingress under the extreme conditions found at the site. All construction joints and pipe penetration within the shafts were sealed with PENEBAR SW waterstops, the formed tie holes were filled with PENEPLUG and PENECRETE MORTAR.
Description:
The Bundall Corporate Center is an 8,000m2 office building with some construction challenges: a 2-level basement car park below the water table and acidic / sulphate soil conditions. A watertight raft slab was needed to ensure that water and chemical ingress did not corrode the steel reinforcement and deteriorate the concrete. The use of pre-cast panels as retaining walls meant that all vertical joints between the panels also needed to be watertight;
Products Used:
PENETRON ADMIX was incorporated into the concrete for the raft slab, all precast panels and on the suspended podium deck. PENEBAR SW 45 rapid and PENEBAR SW 55 were used to waterproof all construction joints. Over 4,000m3 of concrete was treated with PENETRON ADMIX and 1,200m of PENEBAR was installed in the construction joints. Test results showed that concrete dosed with PENETRON ADMIX has a significantly higher compressive strength compared to standard concrete.
