Samsung Insurance Building

Additional Info

Yangpyeong Dong, South Korea

Description:
Samsung Insurance, the leading insurance company in Korea, built a branch office building in Seoul adjacent to the river. This location, with high hydrostatic water pressure, posed challenges to a waterproofing protection system. The originally specified waterproofing system – a permeable cementitious coating – failed to protect the site from water ingress; numerous leaks appeared in the building walls and basement.

Products Used:
The PENETRON crack repair system was applied to repair the cracks and joints. PENEPLUG was applied to immediately stop the active leaks, and PENETRON and PENECRETE MORTAR were applied to the walls. Finally, the top surface was finished with a coat of PENETRON for complete protection from high hydrostatic water pressure for the retaining walls and basement.
